It all began in 2001 when my daughter Rachelle turned 21 and I decided to make her birthday cake.
The cake was to be covered with sugarpaste. I had never used sugarpaste before and thought how hard could it be to cover a cake?…wrong…
lucky the cake was to be decorated with fresh flowers so I could cover all the cracks in the sugarpaste.
So I decided to do a basic cake decorating course so I could do cakes just for family occasions.
I enrolled and started classes with a talented teacher named Audrey Orr. After seeing all of Audrey’s beautiful work and her sugarflowers I fell in love with cake decorating. In 2003 Audrey suggested I enter a piece of sugarcraft that I had made as a cake top decoration ,
in the Whittelsea show that was coming up.At first I said no, never thought my work could be good enough to enter in competition, but had a change of mind and decided to give
it a go and see what happens in competition after all what did I have to lose.
It won First Prize.
The following year Audrey encouraged me to enter the Royal Melbourne Show
